being mixed in this country

being mixed in this country
is like standing on the edge of a skyscraper
back to the street
sixty degrees on lean
arms flailing
never being able to grab ahold of the railing
but not being able to fall
suspended in perpetuity
gaining wisdom at the passing hour
gaining serenity along the way
but never
ever
forgetting about the fall
