Hero For Christ ![]() Barack Obama | Servant LeadershipMark:9:33 When Jesus arrived at the house in Capernaum, he asked them: What was it that you argued about along the way? But his disciples kept silent, for they had disputed along the way about which among themselves was the greatest. And Jesus sat down, and called the twelve, and said to them: Let any man who desires to be first to be last of all and servant of all. Mark 10:35-45 (Matthew 20:20-28, Luke 22:24-26) James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus, saying: Master, we want you to do something for us. And he asked them: What do you want me to do for you? They said: Grant that we might sit, one on your right hand, and the other on your left hand, when you come in your glory. But Jesus answered: You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I shall drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They replied: We are able. And he said to them: You shall indeed drink of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand and my left is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. And when the other ten disciples heard it, they were displeased with James and John. But Jesus called them to him, and said: You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise control over their subjects, and they that are great wield authority. But it shall not be so among you. Whosoever would be great among you, let him be your minister. And whoever would be chief among you, let him be your servant, even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life in exchange for many. Luke 22:27-30 For who is greater, he that sits at the table, or he that serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? But I am among you as he that serves. You are they which have continued with me in my temptations. And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed a kingdom to me, that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 23:8-12 But do not be called teacher: for Christ is your teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man on earth your father: for your Father is in heaven. Neither be called Master, for Christ is your master. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever shall exalt himself will be humbled, and he that shall humble himself will be exalted. John 13:4 Jesus rose from supper, and laid his clothes to one side, and took a towel and wrapped it around himself. Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel that he wore. When he got to Simon Peter, Peter said: Lord, are you washing my feet? Jesus answered: What I do you do not know now, but you will know later. Peter said: You shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered: If I do not wash you, you have no place with me. Simon Peter said: In that case, Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head. Jesus said: He that is washed needs only to wash his feet and is clean completely, and you are clean, but not all of you. For he knew who would betray him, and therefore said: You are not all clean. After he had washed their feet, and had put on his clothes and sat down again, he said: Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Master and Lord, and rightly, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet then you also ought to wash one anothers feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Truly I tell you, the servant is not greater than his lord; neither is the one who is sent greater than the one who sends him. You who know these things will be blessed if you do them. ![]() Top ![]() Back ![]() Next |
