As Children, Born Again

Matthew 18:1-5

At the same time the disciples asked: Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the middle of them, and said: Truly I tell you, unless you are converted, and become as a little child, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever shall humble himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever shall receive one such little child in my name receives me.

Mark 10:13-16 (Matthew 19:13-15, Luke 18:15-17)

They brought young children for Jesus to bless, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was very displeased, and said to them: Allow the little children to come to me, and do not forbid them: for the kingdom of God is for ones such as these. Truly, I tell you: Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God in the manner of a little child shall never enter it.

And he took them in his arms, placed his hands on them, and blessed them.

John 3:1-7

There was a man of the religious leaders, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night, and said: Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, unless God is with him.

Jesus answered and said unto him: “Truly, I tell you, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Nicodemus asked: “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter again into his mother’s womb and be born?”

Jesus answered: “Truly, I tell you, unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you: You must be born again.”
