The Christian Commandments

Matthew 5:19

Who shall break one of the least of these commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

John 13:34 (see also John 15:12, 17)

A new commandment I give you: That you love one another as I have loved you. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Mark:12:28-34 (Matthew 22:35-40, Luke 10:25-28)

One of the religious scholars came, having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that Jesus had answered well, asked him: “Which is the first commandment of all?”

And Jesus answered: “The first of all the commandments is: Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord, and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength, this is the first commandment. And the second is the same: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

And the religious scholar replied: “Master, you have said the truth, for there is one God, and there is none other but he. And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.

When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him: “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no man after that dared ask him any question.
