Hero For Christ ![]() Barack Obama | Do Not Resist EvilMatthew 5:38-48 (Luke 6:27-30) You have heard that it has been said: An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, do not resist evil; but whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other cheek as well. And if any man sues you for your coat, give him your cloak as well. And whoever compels you to go a mile, go two with him. Give to him that asks, and do not ask for the return of what was borrowed. You have heard it said: You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which abuse you, and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father which is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love them which love you, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Be perfect, therefore, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. The Golden Rule - Luke 6:31-35 (Matthew 7:12) And as you would have others do to you, do to them as well. Luke 6:32-35 For if you love them which love you, what thanks do you deserve? For sinners also love those who love them. And if you do good to them which do good to you, what thanks do you deserve? For sinners do the same. And if you lend only to those of whom you hope to receive, what thanks do you deserve? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive their own again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be called children of the Most High, for he is kind even to the evil and the unthankful. ![]() Top ![]() Back ![]() Next |
