Matthew 21:28-32

Jesus said “But what do you think? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said: ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’

“He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he repented, and went.

“And he came to the second, and said the same thing. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir’ but did not.

“Which of the two of them did the will of his father?”

They replied: “The first.”

Jesus said to them: “Truly I tell you that the tax collectors and whores will go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and whores believed him, and you, when you had seen it, did not repent and believe.”



Matthew 23:2-4 (Luke 11:46)

The scholars and religious leaders sit in Moses’ seat. They bid you to do what they say and not what they do, for they themselves do not do what they say. They bind heavy burdens on men’s shoulders, but they themselves do not move a single finger to lift them.



Luke 11:37-41

A certain religious leader asked him to dinner, and he went in and sat down. When the religious leader saw it, he was amazed that Jesus had not washed his hands before dinner.

And Jesus said: “You religious leaders clean the outside of the cup and platter, but are full of greed and wickedness on the inside. You fools, did not he that made the outside also make the inside? If you gave freely of what you have, then all things would be clean to you.”



Matthew:15:16 (Mark 17:18-23)

Are you also without understanding? Do not you yet understand, that whatever enters the mouth goes into to the belly and is cast out into the drains.

But those things which come out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they are what defiles a man. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies and blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands does not.
