Hero For Christ ![]() Barack Obama | Lord of the SabbathMark 2:23-3:5 (Matthew 12:1-13, Luke 6:1-10) At that time Jesus went through the corn on the Sabbath. And his disciples were hungry, and began to pick the ears of corn and eat them. And the religious leaders said to him: Why do your followers do what is unlawful on the Sabbath? And he said to them: Have you never read what David and those with him did when they were hungry and in need? How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the hallowed bread, which is only lawful for the priest to eat, and also gave it to those with him? And he said to them: The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of man is also Lord of the Sabbath. He entered the synagogue again, and there was a man there with a withered hand. And they watched to see if he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they could accuse him. And he said to the man which had the withered hand: Stand forth. Then he said to them: Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath, or to do evil? To save life, or to kill? And Jesus looked at them with anger for the hardness of their hearts, and said to the man: Stretch out your hand. And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. Luke 13:10-16 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath, where there was a woman who had been weakened by illness for eighteen years, and who was bent over, and could not lift herself up. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said: Woman, you are released from your weakness. And he laid his hands on her: and she was immediately able to straighten up, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, and said to the people: There are six days in which men ought to work. Come and be healed on those days, and not on the Sabbath. The Lord answered, saying: You hypocrite! Does not every person release his ox or donkey from its stall and lead it to water on the Sabbath? Then should not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham who was bound by Satan for eighteen years, be released from her bondage on the Sabbath? ![]() Top ![]() Back ![]() Next |
