Hero For Christ ![]() Barack Obama | WealthLuke:12:32-33 Fear not, little flock. It is your Fathers pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have, and give alms. Provide yourselves bags that do not age, and a treasure in the heavens which does not fail, where thieves do not approach, and where no moth can causes decay. Matthew 6:19-21 (Luke 12:34) Do not store treasures on earth, where moths and rust can corrupt them, and thieves can break in and steal them. But rather store treasures in heaven, where neither moths nor rust can corrupt them, and where thieves cannot break in and steal. For where your treasure is, your heart will be as well. Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:13 No man can serve two masters, for he will either hate the one and love the other, or hold on to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. Mark 8:36-37 For what profit is there to gain the world, but lose your soul. And what can a man give in exchange for his soul? Luke 12:13-21 And one of the company said: Master, tell my brother to divide our inheritance with me. And Jesus replied: Man, who made me your judge of property? Take care and beware of greed, for a mans life is not the things he owns. And he spoke a parable to them, saying: A certain rich man had land which was fertile and productive. And he thought to himself: What shall I do? I have run out of room to store my produce. And he thought: I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my produce and goods. And I will say to my soul: Soul, you have enough goods stored to last many years. Take it easy, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said to him: You fool, this night your soul will be required of you. Then to whom shall those things you provided belong? So it is for he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Luke 21:1-4 (Mark 12:41-44) And Jesus looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in two small coins. And he said: Truly I tell you, that poor widow has given more than all others. For they have given from their abundance, but she, from her poverty, has given everything she has to live upon. Luke 12:22-31 (Matthew 6:25-33) Therefore I say to you: Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body and what it wears. Is life not more than meat, and the body more than clothing? Behold the birds of the air, for they neither plant, nor harvest, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they? And which of you can add a single inch to his height by force of will? If you cannot do this least of things, why take thought for the rest? Consider the lilies of the field. They neither work nor spin thread, yet even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as richly as they. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which lives today, and tomorrow is burnt in the oven, shall he not also clothe you, oh you of little faith? Therefore do not worry and say: What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or How shall we be clothed? For all the nations of the world seek these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you have need of them. Rather seek first the kingdom of God, and Gods righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 21:12 (Mark 11:15-17, Luke 19:45-6, John 2:13-16) And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said to them : It is written: My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves. Luke 16:14-15 When the greedy religious leaders heard these things they derided him. And he said to them: You justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For that which men prize is an abomination in the sight of God. Mark 10:21-27 (Matthew 19:21-26, Luke 18:22-27) Then Jesus said: You only lack one thing. If you want to be perfect, go sell what you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come take up the cross and follow me. But when the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, for he had many expensive possessions. Then Jesus said to his disciples: How unlikely it is that the wealthy will enter the kingdom of God. The disciples were astonished at his words, but Jesus said again: Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God. It is easier to for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard this, they were amazed beyond measure, and said: Who then can be saved? And Jesus replied: With men this is impossible, but not with God, for with God all things are possible. ![]() Top ![]() Back ![]() Next |
